Happy Thanksgiving !!! Feels more like Happy New Year with the weather we have had up here. Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Holiday. I know I have a lot to be thankful for this year. Wish I could say I’m thankful for all the happy Steelhead in the Pere Marquette River that ate our swung fly this week. Unfortunately Steelhead fishing has been tough. With Winter hitting hard in the last week , water levels dropped along with the temps making the bite much tougher. We could really use some rain or a snow melt with hopes river levels will come up or at least get some color. Flies have been smaller Nuke Egg’s in more natural colors and smaller Hex, Hare’s Ear and Stonefly Nymphs with lighter weight and tippet. On the Swing small Leeches with little to no flash.
Pics from the week. Bob with a great Steelhead. John and Tom joined me for there annual Steelhead trip. John at 89 years old still fishing hard despite the winter like condition’s and finding the reward. Tom gets a nice Steelhead on Estaz Egg and a bonus Coho on the swing. Lately it feels like the fish of 1,000 casts.
