Spring Steelhead Season is Underway
Steelhead fishing is getting a little better now that the Pere Marquette River has dropped from the heavy rains the week before. You will find fresher fish scattered through out the whole river system now as they work there way up the river to spawn. Last week felt like Spring was fast approaching with warmer weather and water temps. Looking ahead though, looks like we’re in for more normal air temps and snowfall again this week. Flies last week were bigger Clown and Nuke eggs in bright colors. On the swing flows are fast still in some of runs and pools, try a little heavier tip and flies when the water is up.
Last week 2/26- 3/2 2018 Pete joined me for a couple great days of fishing even with the higher water. He was able to capitalize and bring some nice Steelhead to hand on his Birthday and the day after. With the water on the drop Greg’s timing was perfect with the fishing and the weather the few days he was here. It was well worth the trip from Georgia. Kevin all smiles with this nice Hen that took a Clown egg.
