Last week I had the privilege and honor to help with friend and good client Jason Smagacz with  a trip for the Organization Rivers for Recoveryhttp://www.riversofrecovery.org/.   Rivers of Recovery provides rehabilitation to physically and psychologically injured U.S. combat veterans using outdoor and most importantly river therapy for these veterans.    This is a great organization something I hope to do more fishing with in the future, want to thank Jose, Amy and Jason for making this possible.  I really want to thank all the Guides who helped me the two days.  Clint Anderson, Sean McDonald, Steve Martinez and Walt Grau.  The Vets all had a great time and caught fish with everyone, so it was a great success.  Thanks to Tom McGraw for donating some Pere Marquette Trout Unlimited http://www.pmtu.org/ the T-Shirt were a big hit. PMTU is another great organization that is willing to help not only the river and natural resources that surround it, but help get people  involved in the sport of Trout fishing.   Most importantly thanks to all that have served our country.

Trout fishing on the Pere Marquette River was up and down with the weird weather patterns were having.  In the beginning of the week we saw unseasonably warm temperature’s which really kicked off the Gray Drake’s.  We saw a lot of bugs on Tues, Wed and Thurs of last week. Then a huge cold front rolled through , which slowed the bug hatches down along with the Trout bite in general. We were back to swinging smaller Streamers and Bugger’s with hopes of getting some interest in the cold weather.   Look for fishing to improve especially Dry Fly fishing when the weather warms and these winds stop hollowing.

Pics A few happy veterans from Rivers of Recovery with some great fish taken with Guides Clint Anderson, Steve Martinez and myself.   A pic of the group getting ready to start there adventure.  Jim and Scott joined me on Friday with there first ever Fly Fishing experience, the bite was slow with the cold front over us. Jim however got this dandy Brown, not bad for his first time Trout fishing. Scott finished the day off with this nice little Brown.
