Trout fishing on the Pere Marquette River has been up and down.  Some days like last Saturday and Sunday were awesome and now by mid week it’s getting harder. The river just keeps dropping in level and is getting clearer everyday. The fish are getting edgy and spooky.  Water temps are much cooler now  with the colder nights and mornings were seeing. Looks like we might get some rain over the weekend, just like the local farmers I have my fingers crossed.  Flies have been a smorgasbord of Hopper, Stones, Stimulators, Damsel Flies and Beetles.   As the light gets low try small Streamer patterns and Mice into the night.

Pics from the last week or so.   “The release” Letting Nick’s big day time eater go.  Nick finds this great 20″ plus Brown, one of the best daytime sippers of the summer so far.   Fred says “smile” with a nice Brown taken after the lights went out.  Ralph had a great couple days of fishing, taking some nice Brown’s on top.  Early morning start, the river is so quite and peaceful this time of year.
