The Pere Marquette River is a real mess with recent rain last week freezing over night and a wet heavy dumping of snow, trees were crashing down everywhere. Every stretch turned into a rowing obstacle course. Fishing for Steelhead was pretty decent at the beginning of the week but the bite did get tougher towards the end. A drop in water levels and temperatures and added fishing pressure the fish started to use the wood. We saw a few new fish with the rise in water on Thanksgiving day but for the most part the fish are starting to go into to winter mode. Covering a lot of spots and water has been key. For flies on the swing smaller Leeches and Sculpins have produced along with smaller brighter Egg flies fished slow under a float. This weeks forecast is looking the same with a messy start of rain and snow turning much colder once again with temps dropping down into the teens by Wednesday.
Pics from last week : Scott admires his personally best taken on the swing. Matt is all smiles with this nice Hen. Willy with the catch of the day on the swung fly and nice pair of Oakley Shades. This little Chromer found the net as well on a clown egg. Duncan and Fabio joined me for a great day on the water we managed to get these two nice fish on the swing. Rob swinging the glass on a beautiful Michigan morning. This old cop car parked in the parking lot at the end of the day made me smile , just had to get a photo. 😁
