Steelhead fishing the last couple of weeks on the Pere Marquette was pretty good, despite the colder weather and drop in the water levels.  Still not a lot of New Spring fish around, mostly Fall-Winter fish in the system. The river now is rising due to rains and melting snow the end of this week. This bump of water should bring some fresh fish into the River.  Flies last week with the lower clearer water, Nymphs worked really well. Stoneflies, Hex’s and  Salmon Fry.   Egg’s smaller Nuke eggs in more natural looking colors.   Didn’t due much swinging of flies last week due to the cold weather the ice in the guides was getting frustrating.  Good news is hopefully that was the last of Winter and this warming trend will stay.
Pics from last week 3/7-3/15 John and Tom joined me for the annual Steelhead outing. We had a great three days despite the cold. John at 90 years of age and still hunting Steelhead.  Tom comes down from Canada just to join his Dad and carry on this tradition of 16 years.  We have had a lot of fun !!! Jim and I always have a good time on the water.  Gary had a great day as the warming trend started this week the bite did too.  Tom with a nice Steelhead he took on the fat line and a Indicator.
