Shaking Hands with Steelhead
The Pere Marquette River is in great shape. With a little rain last week the river level bumped up a little and has still shows a slight stain to it. Steelhead fishing remains consistent through out the river system. With a mix bag of old and new fish. Still haven’t seen any big pushes of chrome yet just small pushes here and there which is good. The run isn’t coming all up at once. Last week once again was another great week of fishing they seemed to be on the bite well, even on Sunny St. Patrick’s day we found some Chrome and a Giant Rainbow at the end of the Rainbow. 😁 ☘ For flies last week started with the big stuff and then after water dropped and cleared went to smaller Nuke Egg’s in Oregon Cheese, Steelhead Orange and Grapefruit. Small Leeches and Fry patterns worked well too under the float or fished off the bottom. Egg Sucking Leech patterns on the swing or smaller imitations impersonating Smolts and Fry work well this time of year. Stay Healthy, have a great week !!!
Pics from last week 3/16-3/20 : Bob and Tony were back for more we had a great couple of days on the water. Tony all smiles with a record breaking Steelhead taken on St. Patrick’s day. A world class fish from a world class fishery. A true trophy and a memory that will last forever. To top it off we got to shake hands with some new arrivals. Jim and Ed had a great day on the water we found some Steelhead and some great Trout. Jerry and Dan joined me for there annual Spring Steelhead outing we had a great day.
