Steelhead fishing went from really good after the high water, to getting bad as the river dropped and became colder.  Now it’s getting ugly, river is at summer lows.  Steelhead fishing feels more like the end of April then the end of March. We need rain in a big way, looks like maybe will get some this week. I know my fingers are crossed.  We’re still getting opportunity’s at Steelhead everyday, though there are less and less.  Flies that have been working well, were small natural Estaz and Nuke Eggs in Crème, Oregon Cheese and light Roe.  Stonefly Nymphs are working really well when the sun is bright.  For Streamers try smaller Salmon Parr patterns and Sculpin Patterns.

Pics 3/17 -3/23 2018 pics from last week.  Nelson and Matt had the luck of the Irish, we got a good couple spots on St. Patrick’s Day. They brought in a few nice Steelhead and a day maker of a Rainbow Trout that Matt took on a Fry pattern.  Nelson and Joe joined me on Sunday where we found a few nice fish and some fresher fish. Nelson brought this monster bright Hen in on a small Clown Egg. Joe took this nice Buck on a Stonefly.  Bob joined me for a couple days of great fishing.  He’s all smiles letting them swim away, so other Anglers can enjoy them and they get to Spawn.   Jim and Ed had a fun day despite the blue skies and bright sun, they did well getting some  nice Steelhead on Stoneflies.  Scott found this nice bright Hen on a Oregon Cheese Nuke Egg.   Rick  braved a cold wind and bright sun to take a few nice Bucks on Estaz Egg’s. (top pic) This Buck was one of the coolest with it’s Crimson Cheeks and Racing stripe down its side.  And almost a twin to the other taken on a Stonefly.
