Spring Showers to bring in the Chromers
Last week on the Pere Marquette River the river was low and clear with unseasonal warm water temperatures for this time of year. The water started to come up a bit on Sunday with some snow melt and we have a wet week ahead. Hopefully this is the recipe to bring some fresh Chrome Steelhead into all the rivers. Steelhead fishing remains good, you can find fish through out the whole river system. Flies last week were a mix of Alevin patterns, Salmon Fry’s and Stoneflies along with more natural looking Nuke Egg’s in Oregon Cheese and White. On the swing try smaller more Sculpin or Gobie style patterns fished close to the wood and structure.
Some smiley Steelhead pics from last week. Adam and Kevin joined me for there annual Spring Steelhead trip and it was one of the best days of the week. The bite was good and so was the weather. Tom joined me for two days of chasing Steel. He did great bringing some nice fish to hand on the Floating line and a assortment of Alevin and Stonefly erns. Matt all smiles with this nice Hen that took a small Clown Egg.
