Finally starting to look and feel a little more like Spring now. Snow has all but melted, and the banks along the river are starting to show small signs of green grass.  Grouse are drumming in the mornings along with the Turkey’s gobbling.  Little Black Stoneflies are starting to hatch now in the warmer afternoons and yesterday we witnessed three Trout rising on them.   The Steelhead fishing remains consistent on the Pere Marquette River. You can find fish scattered through out the whole river system.  Mixture of old and new fish are being hooked. The river level is in much better shape and holding good color.  Looks like Winter could be approaching by the end of the week so water temps could be dropping once again. Making for a tougher bite.  Flies have been Stonefly Nymphs, Small Nuke Egg’s and Leeches on the swing.
Pics from last week  4/1-4/5   John and Bruce joined me for the annual Spring Steelhead trip we had a great day with a really good bite.   Randy is all smiles with this nice Buck.   Mike joined me for a day of swinging it was productive with a awesome Trout on a Leech (top pic)and a drop back buck Steelhead.  Ladies Day !!!! Stacey and Casey joined me for the first ever fishing adventure.  They caught on quickly with great casts hitting there marks and getting the reward with some good battles and bringing in some Nice Steelhead to the net. They did really great!!!!  Scott and Rick finished off the week  with a couple great fish taken on Leech patterns.  The bite was a little tougher but we had a lot of fun and some good laughs.
