The Fall color has started to pop along the banks of the Pere Marquette River. The Fall Season is officially here and so are the Salmon and the Anglers that pursue them. The river is very busy right now seeing more fishing pressure than usual due to the great weather we’re having up here. Been awesome to be outside enjoying this great watershed. Salmon numbers are down but that could be due to the lack of water we have in the river. It’s extremely low and clear right now and water temps are quite warm too. These warm water temps are going to make the Salmon numbers drop if we don’t see any more soon, they will spawn even faster and die. Hopefully, we see a significant amount of rain this week. You can find fish scattered throughout the whole river right now. Bulk of the fish are in pockets and pools around or on gravel areas. Trout fishing has picked up with small Egg’s and Nymphs around the spawning Salmon. This bite is best in low light conditions. Dry fly fishing could be good too, I finally have seen the Flying Ant’s that we didn’t have in August around now and fish are feeding on them. Hope everyone gets to get out and enjoy this great weather. Please respect the river and other Anglers. Thank you !!!!
Pics from 9/17-9/24 Fall Color is starting to show along the Pere Marquette River. Rick and Caleb( grandpa and grandson) had an awesome day on the water. Caleb brought in some great Salmon and a bonus 20-inch Brown and Rick had some fun too wrestling some Kings on a great day. Was so Happy for Caleb this was his first time on the river and fishing. Great to see kids getting into the sport. Scott had a great couple days on the river bringing some nice Kings to hand. I even caught a King while fishing for Trout with 3x tippet and my 6 weight. Jim found some great fish on his annual three-day Salmon camp.
