Fishing Reports

Cold Steel

The Wood Stove has been burning for three days now and the banks of the Pere Marquette River are covered with over a foot of snow.  Winter arrived last week and decided to stay, from advisory to warning, the white stuff kept piling up. The river is low, cold and clear now, Steelhead fishing was decent last week just searching for biters. This week so far has been tough with

Winter Showed Itself!

The bump in the water early last week saw some good Steelhead fishing on the Pere Marquette River.  Hard to believe last week you could be in a t-shirt and now we have around three inches of snow on the ground.  You can find Steelhead scattered throughout the whole river system.   The river now is getting low and clear with the colder weather were seeing.   For flies last week, Chartreuse

Where’s the Steelhead Weather?

Steelhead fishing this last week was much tougher, water became extremely low and clear and weather felt more like a summer day of hopper fishing for Trout then Steelhead fishing. We did see some rain Friday night and Saturday and looks like river bumped up on Sunday, which we desperately need.  There are Steelhead now throughout the whole river system.  For flies on the swing if water comes up and

Fall Fun

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the Fall.  It seems to be going by way to fast ,just a week ago we had wonderful colors in the woods and along the river. The leaves now are all but on the ground.  I did manage to get out and enjoy the last bit of great weather on the bikes and in the woods chasing some Grouse and Woodcock around with

Another Season Comes to an End

“That’s a Wrap!” Another Salmon season has come to an end. First, I would like to thank everyone who joined me for the Fall Salmon Season! It was great to spend time on the water together making memories. By far it was a great run of fish.  There are plenty of Kings still in the system for this time of year. You can find most of the fish around spawning

Fall is in the Air

Fall is starting to show itself along the banks of the Pere Marquette River.  The weather last weekend and this last week was wet and definitely much cooler then the 80’s we were seeing.  Trees are starting to show some signs of fall color now.  The rain didn’t really do too much to the river as far as bringing it up or giving it a good stain. For the most

Summertime Salmon

Salmon fishing on the Pere Marquette remains good.  The fish are however scattered throughout the river system and with the warmer summer weather and lack of rain we’re seeing they are spawning and fading fast.  The upper river is probably the lowest I have seen this time of year, every time rain is in the forecast, we see little to none.  There’s plenty of fish to still arrive, Anglers are

The Kings of the River

Salmon Season is upon us on the Pere Marquette River. It’s hard to believe, summer just went by to fast this year.   We have seen two small pushes of Salmon enter the river one was pretty good on the last rain we had. The fish however are very scattered in the river system and there are a lot of areas that have little to none.  The water level is very

Another Season Begins

Another season about to begin. Hard to believe summer is almost over. The mornings and evenings up here are starting to feel like fall the last few days. We’re even seeing a few Maple Trees starting to change. The Pere Marquette River is still low in the upper stretches. Trout fishing the last couple weeks has been tough. With cooler mornings the Trico’s have been sparse and fish just really

Terrestrial Time

The Pere Marquette River received some much-needed rain on Monday.  Water levels are very low and clear, trout fishing has been decent when water temps are cooler.   Fishing on top with Terrestrial patterns and an assortment of attractor flies is working well. Nymphs and swung wet flies are producing too on the bright sunny days. Early mornings we are seeing a good Trico hatch too if you enjoy fishing the
