Happy New Year to everyone hope you had a safe and Happy Holiday.  With the nice weather and good fishing, I have been on the river a lot working and fishing myself. Some days feel more like Winter is closing and Spring has sprung, I’m sure Winter will hit soon though. For now, been taking advantage of this great weather.   The Steelhead action has been on off , which is expected for Winter fishing.  Some days the bite is pretty good, other days if there’s is just a settle change in weather or water temps drop the bite becomes tough.  For flies on the swing try more settle and smaller patterns in more natural hues like Olive or Tan , especially on the sunny days.   For Egg’s Nuke or smaller Clown eggs can work well in more natural tones.  Nymph’s try Stoneflies, Hex’s and even some Green Rockworms or Caddis patterns.
Pics from last week : Tom joined me for a couple days of Swinging Flies for Steelhead. Tom has turned into a great Angler and Fly Tier over the years and always seems to find the big ones snd the pretty ones.  Nice job !!!! Nick and his Dad Dave joined me for their first ever Fly-Fishing trip and Steelhead fishing. It was a cold one Friday, I taught them how to Indicator Fish with the fat lines and nick brought this great fish to the net. Not bad for his first Steelhead on a Fly Rod.  Bob started this week with a bang taking this nice fresh Steelhead that put up quite a battle.  I found a nice one to start the New Year off to a good start.
