The river is in good shape. It has some color still and is a little warmer for this time of year. I Do see it cooling off this week with the winter like temperatures hitting the area. Steelhead and Trout fishing is consistent on Nymphs and Egg Flies. Try smaller Clown Eggs and Nukes in brighter colors and for Nymph’s bigger Stoneflies , Steelhead Bugger’s and Hex Nymphs can fish well this time of year. For fishing the downstream swing , flashy flies worked well last week with the dirtier water and warmer temps. As the river cool’s off and becomes clear more Sculpin and Baitfish patterns will fish well.
Last week spent the day with good friend and client Rich Felber we swung flies and I was fortunate enough to find this nice buck on my Light Bright Leech. The fish was good karma because beforehand we pulled this all off one tree. (“no spawn sacs in flies water”) The Lakes are freezing up, Clint Anderson at the Red Moose Lodge headed out for some Bluegill fishing last week.
