Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the Fall. It seems to be going by way to fast ,just a week ago we had wonderful colors in the woods and along the river. The leaves now are all but on the ground. I did manage to get out and enjoy the last bit of great weather on the bikes and in the woods chasing some Grouse and Woodcock around with good Heather and some good friends and my two favorite bird dogs. The Pere Marquette River finally received some much-needed rain these last couple weeks. The nastier weather did bring in a few Steelhead and Coho’s into the system. Fish were pushing hard up stream last week with the rise in water they are now scattered throughout the river. Still plenty of Kings around too, some are still even pretty fresh. Jim swung up a great King last week on a Leech pattern. For flies can’t beat an Egg Fly this time of year. Nuke eggs in more Natural Salmon colors like Burnt Orange and Steelhead Orange work great. On the Swing try more Egg-Sucking style Leech Patterns or flashier Intruder style patterns. Good Luck out there and please practice Catch-N-Release on our Steelhead. Educate Anglers around you, in knowing these PM Steelhead naturally reproduce and are now wild in the river system. They are not going to back the truck up and dump in more for fish us to enjoy. Thanks, and enjoy the rest of the fall on the water or in the woods.
Pics from last week. John found some Chrome on the Indicator and Egg Flies. Chris with a dime bright Hen he took on his switch rod. Jim swung flies with me a couple weeks ago not much then for Steelhead, but he did swing up this nice King. It was pretty cool and what a grab. Some Fall Bird Hunting and biking pics. Enjoying a little time off before back at it this week.
