Fall Has Arrived

Last week Wednesday marked the first day of Fall and it even felt like it on the banks of the Pere Marquette River.  We did see quite a bit of rain last week and much cooler weather.   The river managed to come a bit and more Kings worked their way into the river.   Salmon fishing is still good. You can find fish throughout the whole river system.  You can find fish in the deeper pools and runs and around gravel.  Trout fishing is starting to pick up too. Try small natural Egg imitations and little Streamers while the river is up.  Good Luck out there! Be sure to bring Mosquito repellent – they’re bad with all this rain we’re getting.

Pics from the week 9/20-9/24:  This week on the river we celebrated the life of Ted.  Ted was part of Mensching group I have been guiding for many years with Tom Johnson. Guide Steve Cornetet has joined us for several of them now too.  Ted was always a pleasure to have on the boat he loved Fishing for anything with fins, this group had some awesome adventures throughout the years all over the World fishing. He loved chasing King Salmon and Steelhead on the Pere Marquette River he also loved those Nutty Buddy’s too. Will miss you Ted, RIP. Ted back in the day always good times on the river.   Mensching Jim and Art had some great fishing a few days before the rains came. Scott joined me for his annual Salmon trip and brought John who was new to Fly Fishing for Kings. John did great bringing several good Kings to the net. Scott too found some great fish.
